Johnson County Fair
July 25 - August 1

The county fair is next month already. It's that time of year when you think of carnival rides and cotton candy (well, I guess that was a long time ago!) Now we think of blue ribbons on our quilts! Go through your recently finished quilts, wall hangings, table toppers, bags, etc. and decide which ones you will enter.

•    You can enter in as many quilt classes as you wish, but only one per class.
•    See attachment to the newsletter for entry information and the list of classes.
•    Entering your quilts is done online at www.jocokansasfair.com. Deadline for entries is July 13th (day before guild meeting). Instructions for this process are also attached to this newsletter.
•    A one time $5 entry fee is required.

New this year: One quilt will be recognized as the viewer's choice. Fair visitors may vote on the quilted item they like the best.

Our quilter's guild will be helping to supervise the open-class building again this year. Please consider signing up for a three hour time slot to sit in an air-conditioned building and visit with your quilt buddy while doing some hand sewing. Or maybe you would rather help with quilt entries or assist during the judging. Click on the following link for the Signup Genius:

Quilt Retreat in October

This one will be local and hosted by Aventura Senior Living (5901 W 107th St, Overland Park, KS 66207).

Dates & Times:
Friday, October 23 through Monday, October 26
We’ll begin at 9:00 AM on Friday. After that, it will be come-and-go until Monday evening around 7:00 PM, when we’ll share one final meal together and clean up the space. Sleep in your own home at night.

You’re welcome to work on any projects you’d like. We’ll also have a group project that we’ll gift to Aventura as a thank-you for hosting us.

Cost: $30
This will cover materials for the group project and one catered meal. Please also plan to go out for at least one meal during the retreat.

Laura will have an optional wonderful t-shirt designed for an additional $20.

This is a new space that comfortably accommodates up to 27 people. If more people attend, we can make it work, but we may need to bring additional sturdy tables.

If you’re interested in attending, please let Heather Schaller know, and you’ll be added to an email list where we’ll share more details.
